AI Detector Review
ZeroGPT is one of the most-used free AI detectors on the web — paste text, get a percentage, no account. That convenience made it popular; it also means a lot of high-stakes decisions get made on numbers nobody has independently verified. This review separates what's known from what isn't.
Verdict (evidence-based): Fine as a free, zero-friction self-check before you submit your own writing. We do not recommend it as a basis for accusations: independent accuracy verification is thin, and we found pricing inconsistencies across its own web properties worth flagging.

What ZeroGPT does well
- Zero-friction free checks. No account for basic use, generous per-check character allowance (vendor-published; verify current caps).
- Familiar output format. A percentage plus highlighted sentences — easy to interpret, easy to over-trust (see watchouts).
Watchouts
- Accuracy is essentially unverified. We found no rigorous independent study of ZeroGPT specifically; category-wide evidence (61.3% non-native TOEFL misclassification across seven detectors, Liang et al. 2023; claimed-vs-observed gaps, Cheng et al. 2025) counsels caution. Our own accuracy row stays pending.
- Pricing inconsistencies across its own sites. Our October 2026 research found differing PRO prices between ZeroGPT's .com and .net properties — a small thing that says something about operational care. Verify on whichever property you'd actually pay.
- Percentage confidence invites misuse. A "85% AI" readout feels like proof. It isn't; no detector output is (see our false positives guide).

- Our observation: differing PRO pricing across ZeroGPT web properties (Oct 2026) — noted, not scored.
- Pending our tests: ZeroGPT-specific accuracy and false-positive measurement.

Who it's for
- Writers doing a quick self-check before submission
- Curiosity checks on suspicious text with zero stakes
- Not for institutional decisions, accusations, or anything where a false positive harms someone
FAQ
Is ZeroGPT accurate?
Unverified. No rigorous independent study of ZeroGPT specifically surfaced in our research; category evidence documents false-positive risk broadly. Treat its percentages as rough signals only.
Is ZeroGPT free?
Yes — a real free tier with per-check limits and no account required for basic use. A PRO tier raises limits.
ZeroGPT vs GPTZero?
Both offer free checking. GPTZero has stronger education orientation and more third-party coverage; ZeroGPT is marginally simpler to use. Neither should anchor an accusation. See ZeroGPT vs GPTZero.
